
Before moving to The United States, Shahrzad Mazaheri worked professionally as a costume designer for theatre and movies in Iran for more than 7 years. She has designed costumes for several theatre companies in DFW including “A Little Less Lonely” with Public Works Dallas at DTC, and ¨The Immigrant¨ at Theatre Three. Among her most recent credits are "Sweeney Todd" at Trinity Repertory Company, "English" at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, "Carmela, Full of Wishes" at Children's Theatre Company, MN, “Sueño” at Trinity Rep, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at SMU Meadows School of the Arts, the world premiere of “The Merit System” at Teatro Dallas, the world premiere of “The Pleasure Trials” at Amphibian Stage, and the world premiere of "Yaelmihkeinsploke" at SMU Meadows School of the Arts. Shahrzad has received the 2021 Design Fellowship for Public Works Dallas. She is the recipient of TxETA 2021 Scholarship. She won the Maguire Ethics Essay Award in 2021 on the subject of ethical issues of misrepresentation and cultural appropriation in movies and theatre. Shahrzad is also the recipient of Bob Hope Scholarship for Excellence in Stage Design from SMU Department of Theatre. She completed her MFA in Stage Design at Southern Methodist University. She also holds an MFA in Textile and Fashion Design.
